Coca-Cola: Opening the Doors at Hmawbi
As Coca-Cola marked five years in Myanmar and invested in a new hot fill line at its Hmawbi factory, Ruder Finn Era designed a brand experience centre at the plant and ran media and stakeholder tours, including a visit by the US Ambassador. Fourteen journalists produced 21 stories, six of them broadcast features, worth USD 98k in earned PR value.
The challenge
Coca-Cola was approaching five years of operations in Myanmar and had just invested in a new hot fill production line at its Hmawbi factory. The company wanted to tell the story of its history and investment in the country, and to use the anniversary to strengthen relations with regulators and government.
A factory is not naturally a media destination. To make the investment story tangible for journalists, ambassadors and officials, Coca-Cola needed a physical way to show its milestones, values and commitments, not just a press release about production capacity.
Our solution
Ruder Finn Era framed the hot fill line as a signal of continuing commitment to Myanmar, while placing it inside the wider story of the company's impact in the country over the previous decade.
The team handled the redesign and production of a Coke experience centre at the factory, planning the interior and a series of displays that combined brand heritage with informational and message-led content, so that a tour told the investment story visually and in sequence.
The centre then anchored a programme of media and stakeholder tours that Ruder Finn Era planned and managed end to end: engagement plans, logistics, on-site management, message-led press kits with release, FAQ and factsheets, and talking points and briefings for the Coca-Cola Myanmar spokesperson. The tours included a visit by the US Ambassador to Myanmar.
The results
Fourteen journalists on the launch tour generated 21 stories including six broadcast features, and the experience centre continued to host media visits afterwards.
