Normagut: Escapes From Pann Ga Bar

Normagut, a gut health brand in Myanmar, needed to stand out in a market dominated by traditional remedies and costly imports. Ruder Finn Era built a social campaign around the local slang for diarrhoea, Flower World (Pann Ga Bar), using humour and personal stories. The always-on programme delivered 3.5M+ monthly reach and 79k+ monthly engagement.

The challenge

Myanmar's gastrointestinal health market is shaped by habit. Consumers reach for traditional remedies first, and the alternatives are expensive imported products. Awareness of probiotic, gut-protective options was low and the category was crowded and undifferentiated.

Normagut needed more than product education. To earn a place in everyday conversation it needed a message that spoke to how Myanmar people actually experience and talk about digestive trouble, and a social presence that people would choose to follow rather than scroll past.

Our solution

The insight came from language. In Myanmar the everyday euphemism for diarrhoea is Pann Ga Bar, literally Flower World. Rather than clinical messaging, Ruder Finn Era built the campaign on that shared cultural shorthand with the idea: avoid getting exhausted going around the flower garden.

The creative platform turned an awkward subject into something approachable. The team produced humorous visuals and short personal stories that people recognised from their own lives, paired with clear reminders of what Normagut does for gut protection.

Delivered as an always-on social programme, the content was designed for interaction, encouraging comments and shares and steadily building a community around digestive health rather than a series of product posts.

The results

3.5M+monthly reach
79k+monthly engagement
3,000+monthly fan growth

Monthly reach above 3.5 million and steady fan growth showed that a culturally rooted idea could make a functional health product part of everyday conversation.
