Clear Eyed Future: Launching a Vision Clinic in Phnom Penh
A foundation launching a vision clinic in Phnom Penh engaged Ruder Finn Era to raise awareness of the need for accessible eye care in underserved Cambodian communities. Multilingual media engagement with top-tier outlets, coordinated with the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Ministry of Health, amplified a record 1,000+ eye exams in one day and earned USD 25k in media value.
The challenge
Millions of people in underserved Cambodian communities live with uncorrected vision problems that affect their ability to learn and work, yet the issue rarely makes the news. The foundation opening a new vision clinic in Phnom Penh needed the launch to raise awareness of that urgent need and to establish itself as a credible public health partner in the country.
Credibility depended on government alignment and on coverage in the outlets that decision-makers and the public trust, in Khmer as well as English.
Our solution
Ruder Finn Era restructured the foundation's messaging for local relevance, moving from an international charity narrative to one rooted in Cambodian families and the national health agenda, and coordinated closely with the Ministry of Women's Affairs and the Ministry of Health throughout.
The team then led targeted, multilingual media engagement with top-tier Cambodian outlets, using the clinic's record-breaking achievement of more than 1,000 eye exams in a single day as the story that made the need tangible and the foundation's capability visible.
